Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ParlourBD (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and the ParlourBD Android app. ParlourBD is a beauty-parlour directory for Bangladesh. We help people find parlours by district, city, area, and service. We do not provide booking, payments, or in-app checkout.

1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the website or app, we may collect:

• Account data — name, email, phone, password (stored as a hash), and role (visitor, parlour owner, or admin) when you register or log in.
• Parlour listings — business name, address, map link, phone, WhatsApp, social links, opening hours, services, prices, photos, logos, and descriptions uploaded by owners.
• Location — if you allow it in the Android app, we collect precise GPS coordinates only while the app is in use, to show nearby parlours and fill district / city / area. We do not track location in the background. Location is optional; you can skip permission and still browse by area.
• Reviews and comments — name, optional star rating, comment text, IP address, and a device identifier. New reviews stay pending until an admin approves them. They then appear on both the website and the app.
• Reports — emails and details you send through report or copyright forms.
• Device and usage — device ID (app), language preference, pages viewed, search queries, and basic technical logs (such as IP address) needed to run and secure the service.
• Push tokens — if you install the app and allow notifications, a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can send service updates from our admin panel.
• Ad-free status — in the app, how many rewarded ads you watched and any temporary ad-free period.

3. How we use information

• To operate the directory, search, maps, owner dashboards, and admin tools.
• To show nearby parlours and convert GPS coordinates to district, city, and area (via our server and, if configured, Google Geocoding / Places, otherwise OpenStreetMap Nominatim).
• To moderate photos (including optional Google Cloud Vision checks for adult or promotional content) and to approve or reject reviews before they are public.
• To send transactional email such as password reset.
• To send push notifications you can receive in the app.
• To measure traffic (page views and, if enabled, Google Analytics) and to improve the service.
• To show ads and to honour rewarded-ad / ad-free features in the app.
• To enforce our Terms, Copyright Policy, and safety rules.

4. Advertising

Website: we may show sponsor or banner ads managed from our admin panel.

Android app: we use Google Mobile Ads (GMA Next-Gen SDK) including banners and rewarded ads. Bidding may include Meta Audience Network. The app may use the advertising ID (AD_ID) to serve and measure ads. In regions where required (for example the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), we show a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form before requesting personalised ads. You can open Privacy options in the app when that form requires an entry point.

Google, Meta, and other ad partners may collect device identifiers, approximate location, and interaction data according to their own policies. See Google Privacy Policy and Meta Privacy Policy.

5. Maps, analytics, and other processors

• Maps — OpenStreetMap / Leaflet, or Google Maps if an API key is configured.
• Analytics — Google Analytics only if the site operator has added a measurement ID in settings.
• Image scan — Google Cloud Vision if enabled for owner photo moderation.
• Push — Google Firebase Cloud Messaging.
• Hosting / email — our web host and any mail provider used to send password-reset mail.

These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us.

6. Cookies

The website uses essential cookies for login sessions, security (CSRF), language, and so you can edit your own review. If Google Analytics is enabled, analytics cookies may be used. See our Cookies Policy. You can block cookies in your browser; some features (login, posting a review) may then not work.

7. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the processors above, when required by law, or to protect users and the platform (for example investigating abuse). Parlour listing details that owners publish are public on the website and app.

8. Retention

Accounts and listings are kept while the service is used. Pending or rejected reviews and reports are kept as needed for moderation. Push tokens are kept until the app unregisters or the token is invalid. Backups and logs are kept for a limited operational period.

9. Security

We use hashed passwords, access-controlled admin tools, and HTTPS where the site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Children

ParlourBD is a general parlour directory. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Your choices

• Delete your owner account in the Android app: More → Delete account. That removes your account, listings, photos, and login tokens. You can also email us or use delete-account.php.
• Edit your own review; public display still requires admin approval after edits.
• Report a listing, photo, or review from inside the app (Details → Report) or on the website report form.
• Revoke location or notification permission in device settings. Notifications are optional and are not requested until you choose Enable.
• Use the app Privacy options / UMP form where shown to manage ad consent.
• Opt out of personalised ads via your Google account ads settings and device advertising-ID settings.

Users in Bangladesh and in other countries (including the EEA/UK where ads consent applies) may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Email privacy@velvetglowbd.com.

12. International processing

Our primary operations are in Bangladesh. Processors such as Google and Meta may process data on servers outside Bangladesh. By using the service you understand that your information may be transferred to those locations with appropriate safeguards used by those providers.

13. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date on this page will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
